Software Developer Intern



Nectar’s mission is to help the beekeeping industry ensure the health of honey bees and secure our food supply. By translating the language of bees, we aim to bring bees, beekeepers, and growers closer together. Using technology and insights built from the use of sensors and artificial intelligence, we help beekeepers raise thriving beehives and optimize their operations while providing growers key measurements to realize the full impact of honey bee pollination on their crops.

About the job

You will work on critical components of our platform dedicated to beekeepers. You will collaborate with hardware engineers, data scientists, and designers, while directly supervised by our lead software developer. It’s a unique opportunity to learn and work on projects that have an impact, both technically and on our ecosystem. Depending on your background and experience, you will work on projects related to:

  • Front-end development ;
  • Backend / platform development ;
  • Embedded Software / IoT development ;
  • Data-science / Machine-learning.


  • Work on 1 to 2 long-term projects to be decided based on your background and your experience. 
  • Work on several short-term projects to be decided based on your interests and Nectar’s priorities.
  • For example, new features, deployment and maintenance tools, performance optimization projects, analyze of new data. 
  • Contribute to technological choices and architecture decisions.
  • Collaborate with Nectar’s developers, data scientists and hardware engineers as well as participate actively in problem-solving. 


While we design our internships to be a period of learning, we will favor final undergraduate internships and above as we feel Nectar is better suited to welcome them. Other assets include:

  • Knowledge of all or part of our technical stack:  Python/Django, PostgreSQL,
    React, Kotlin, Flutter.
  • Knowledge of core computer science concepts: OOP, REST APIs, relational databases. 
  • Knowledge of version control tools such as Git.
  • Capacity to write unit tests.
  • Good level in French and English as well as a sense of details and documentation.
  • Interest in sustainable development and agriculture.
