Senior Marketing Manager

A third of the world's crop production depends on honeybee pollination, yet beekeepers lose 40% of their hives each year. To be part of the solution, our team's mission is to provide beekeepers and growers with the data-driven tools needed to raise thriving honeybee colonies. We believe that the technology being built by our team - including AI models - will lead to a future where pollinators are considered an essential factor in feeding our planet. With our digital hive management platform, Nectar's goal is to equip commercial migratory beekeepers with technologies that enable them to make data-driven decisions to raise healthier bees to secure our food supply.

About Nectar

Nectar helps commercial beekeepers manage their operations and raise healthier honeybee colonies. Our digital hive management platform gives operators better visibility across their hives, yards, and crews so they can make informed decisions and run more profitable businesses.

About the position

We’re looking for a hands-on, strategic marketer to lead Nectar’s marketing efforts through our next stage of growth. Reporting to the COO, you’ll shape the marketing strategy, identify where we should focus, and turn those priorities into action; testing new approaches, measuring what works, and adjusting accordingly.

A key part of your mandate will be attracting qualified prospects and moving existing leads closer to purchase. As we reach beyond early adopters, you’ll find compelling ways to show pragmatic beekeepers how Nectar can help them earn more, reduce costs, or avoid losses through credible evidence, customer stories, useful content, and targeted campaigns.

You’ll work closely with our leaders, sales, customer success, and product teams to understand our customers and support acquisition, adoption, and expansion. We’re looking for someone versatile and resourceful who can move comfortably between strategy and execution, from exploring new channels and opportunities to creating content or bringing in external resources when needed.

What you will do

  • Own and evolve Nectar’s marketing strategy: translate company goals into clear marketing priorities, identify gaps and opportunities, and proactively recommend where Nectar should—and shouldn’t—invest its marketing efforts.
  • Build a deep understanding of the market: conduct customer and market research to understand customer needs, buying behaviour, objections, competitors, and emerging opportunities. Share insights across the business to help assess product-market fit and inform product, positioning, and go-to-market decisions.
  • Drive demand and conversion: develop and test ways to attract qualified prospects, engage existing leads, and move them from awareness through consideration toward purchase. Work with sales to understand where prospects get stuck and what can help move them forward.
  • Iterate: experiment with new channels, messages, campaigns, and content. Develop hypotheses, define what success looks like, and use results to determine what to scale, change, or stop.
  • Make Nectar’s value clear and compelling: develop customer stories, use cases, ROI narratives, and campaigns that demonstrate how Nectar can help operators increase revenue, reduce costs, avoid losses, or run their businesses more effectively. Help position Nectar as an innovator in the industry.
  • Create and manage content across channels: develop content directly or manage external resources when needed, including email, social, video, educational content, and Nectar’s podcast. Find effective ways to repurpose and distribute content to reach and engage the right audiences.
  • Measure performance and communicate results: establish meaningful marketing KPIs, track performance across the funnel, and regularly report on what’s working, what isn’t, and what we’re learning. Turn those insights into recommendations for what to do next.
  • Partner closely with leadership and own execution: work with the C-level, product, sales, and customer success to synthesize ideas, customer insights, and company priorities into clear positioning and marketing initiatives. Build realistic plans, coordinate internal and external contributors, and keep work moving from idea through launch.

About you

  • You have substantial hands-on marketing experience and can show initiatives you personally took from idea through execution, measurement, and improvement.
  • You’re a versatile generalist who can move comfortably between strategy and execution, with experience across content, email, social, campaigns, and digital marketing.
  • You thrive with autonomy and ambiguity. You can identify what needs attention, set priorities, and move forward without an established marketing playbook or detailed direction.
  • You’re commercially minded and think beyond marketing activity and engagement to customer behaviour, pipeline, conversion, and business growth.
  • You’re resourceful and comfortable being the go-to marketing person on a small team. You know what to tackle yourself, when to bring in outside expertise, and how to get meaningful results with limited resources.
  • You’re a strong writer and communicator who can take complex or evolving ideas and turn them into clear, compelling messaging and content.
  • You combine data with customer insight. You’re comfortable talking to customers, interpreting results, testing unfamiliar approaches, and changing course based on what you learn.
  • You’re comfortable creating content across formats, including video, or managing external resources to bring it to life.
  • You work well with founders and cross-functional teams. You can synthesize different perspectives, bring structure to ideas, challenge assumptions constructively, and make sound decisions independently.
  • You’re curious about commercial beekeeping and willing to learn the product, spend time with customers, and understand the realities of their businesses.
  • You share Nectar’s values of positivity, constructiveness, care, curiosity, and ambition, and are comfortable with occasional travel, typically up to two trips per year.

Great to have

  • Experience marketing to agriculture, small businesses, or other pragmatic buyers who need a clear business case for adopting technology.
  • Experience in software or commercial beekeeping.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French.

Benefits and conditions

  • Permanent, full-time role with flexible work hours.
  • Work from home in Canada or the US and/or from Nectar’s Montreal office.
  • Remuneration according to experience.
  • Uncapped vacation.
  • Group insurance plan and RRSP for residents of Canada.
  • Annual well-being budget of $500.

How to apply

Please submit your resume and a brief note on why this role interests you, along with examples of a video you helped produce and a campaign you launched. For each, explain your personal contribution. For the campaign, include the results, what you learned, and what you changed as a result.
